China Unicom’s general manager Lu Yimin said in an interview, China Unicom’s4G mobile phone policy has been definited that in the future its customized 4G mobile phones must support 4 models, namely TDD/FDD/WCDMA/GSM. This was the first time that China Unicom’s senior staff made a clear statement of its 4G policy of customized terminals.

In the GTI summit meeting of Mobile Asia Expo 2014, China Mobile‘s president Li Yue said, in the second half of 2014, its 4G mobile phone strategy would focus on 5 models and multiple frequency bands, but will also take customers’ demand for 3-model 4G mobile phones into account.

Compared with China Mobile and China Unicom, China Telecom was still unsure about its 4G device customization strategy. Due to the lack of successful cases of transition CDMA to TD-LTE for major operators in the world, China Telecom would face a weary situation for its 4G devices if it chooses to support TDD. As China Telecom was uncertain about its 4G policy, device manufacturers were also in a wait-and-see state, which was not good to China Telecom and the industry chain.
