China’s telecommunication sector earned CNY 901.15 billion in sales revenue during the first eleven months of this year, an increase of 9.6 percent year-on-year, reports sina.com.cn, citing Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

At the end of November, China’s total number of phone users hit 1.26 billion, of which mobile phone users accounted for 975 million of the total. During the period, the industry posted a 13.6 percent year-on-year growth in sales from the mobile sector to CNY 651.91 billion. The proportion of mobile phones sales to total sales rose to 72.34 percent from 69.83 percent recorded in the corresponding period of last year. The fixed-line sector generated CNY 249.24 billion in sales revenue, increasing 0.5 percent year-on-year.

However, its sales proportion to total sales declined to 27.66 percent from 30.17 percent in same period of 2010. Mobile phone users increased by 116.33 million, bringing the total number of mobile phone users to 975.33 million. The net increase in 3G users was 71.68 million during this period, raising the total to 118.73 million. Basic corporate broadband users rose to 155.09 million, an increase of 28.80 million from the end of 2010.

Guangdong province ranked first in terms of mobile phone and fixed-line phone sales and total telecommunication sales. The province has approximately 106.93 million mobile users and another 31.65 million fixed-line phone users, generating CNY 124.2 billion in sales revenue.
